... its not like rugby at all cause that is played on the grass and has same sex teams, oh dear not sure what it is like - so if you are interested to find out more about the game then I am afraid you will have to google it!
On Monday we did the art center gallery walk - 20 kms!! Not sure we walked the full 20 kms but enjoyed seeing all the local crafts. We both had a go at glass blowing - which was really cool. Before we went in we discussed ...
... in Motueka, and we prepare the great food for tonight's mega
dinner. Laia sais she's gonna cook Paella Catalana. For the first time
after days we have more news about the cafetera. She was here and she
asked the hostel's owner for a bed for free. She said she could win anybody
at pool and every match that she won she had to get 1 night accomodation.
She's a really good player but, when Pablo, a spanish pool champion played ...
... said that we didn't want to go and were happy to hear that each other felt that way! We had a VERY lazy day - went out for Sunday roast which was so yummy and a bargain at $15 for dinner and pavalova which is about 7.50 euro. We strolled around the city which is more like a big town and fell in love with the place even more - a really nice place to live. Not much else to report - slept early enough that night since we had so little the night before!
Nelson, South Island, New Zealand sharor... 12 km walk. We first got a boat to a place called Anchorage, then walked back down to the bus stop. It was such a beautiful place with deserted beaches and forest walks. It got really warm as well as we hiked up the mountains!
On our last night, the day before my birthday, 9 of us went out for a pre-birthday curry. It was really cheap and amazing, we finished the night off at Shark pool bar with a few pints!
... arch our backs and bend our heads back so we were
arch shaped. My tandem master just held my head back as we jumped
(well more like fell) from the plane. We spun once, maybe twice
before we stabilised and he tapped me on the shoulders to indicate
that I could now extend my arms. The feeling was really cool
(literally though it was freezing, my hands were solid), it felt like
flying but I had to struggle a bit to breathe, which is normal. The ...
... a $1.53 American. Oh man...the exchange rate is getting worse. We arrived in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand at about 7:30. It was a long bus ride...and our new driver Rell let people play their own Ipods for 3 songs. I am not impressed with the musical tastes of our bus, though Sam Cooke made a nice appearence. A techno version of Bob Marley's "Sun is Shining" seemed totally antithetical to the spirit of Reggae ...

Motueka, South Island, New Zealand mariaandeva... him as the gulls hated him more than us and chased him over the tree line. I will feed every grey heron I see with small sardines until my debt is paid. What can we say - it's gorgeous here even in the rain! Everywhere you look, it just takes your breath away. The weather is supposed to stay poor for the next two days, so we are probably going to move on inland and hope for better weather at the next place...
Motueka, South Island, New Zealand oulous... our camp spot for the night, just opposite Tonga Island. It was deserted except for us (no one else mad enough to brave the wind and the rain), and we set up camp early evening. I can't say it was the best experience, putting up tents in the rain and watching them get soaked through, but it did certainly add to our sense of adventure. Dinner of seafood tagliatelle that night was exactly the warmth we needed to increase our body temperatures for the night ahead ...
Motueka, South Island, New Zealand stevebecks... when I was getting out (I know, I know, no excuse!!). What do we do now?? Well, I lifted the bonnet and "tried" to look dumb hoping someone might stop to help while Fiona went into the motel on the side of the road and asked if anyone could give us a jump. Luckily, the owner was a Kiwi (extremely nice people) so he helped us on our way!
