We had left Périguex early as we had a long ride of almost 500 km, and were using the main roads. In the Burgundy region, we started to take the secondary roads and we came along the side of the Canal du Centre and stopped to see one of the locks in operation.

More information about the canal can be found at this link:

Beautiful country, with the kilometres ticking by we were both getting weary I turned off into Beaujeu as needed a Toilet stop LOL. As luck would have it we were fortunate to find a B&B up amongst the Vineyards, with instructions on how to get there we set off up and around some ...

After riding about 300 kms, Werner and I stopped for a lunch break in a town call Chalon-sur-Saone.

It is quite a nice city with an old town, but all of the restaurants closed by 2:30 p.m. and although we looked hard we could not find anything.

          We ...

We were bussed into Tournus for our walking tour as our ship was still being repaired from its previous bingle. Tournus was an old walled town, as most of them are, and it's main attraction was St Philibert Abbey. A Romanesque church, it was built between the 10th and 12th centuries and contained a quite large crypt originally used as ...
