This morning we drove down to Playa del Carmen (PDC) for the day. We blundered into a primo parking spot which was really handy. We had not been there for about 15 or so years. It is so much bigger! It used to be a tiny place with a little shopping but now, it is a big place with mucho shopping opportunities. We were very well behaved and did not buy anything there. We did see some migrating Ruddy Turnstones on the beach. There were about a dozen ...

    Too old to party.

... literally ran, full pelt, past us avoiding any kind of eye contact... We are officially too old to even contemplate inviting us to a wild party. We would have said no, and I would probably not have been able to hear what he was saying if he had invited us; but it would have been nice to be invited. We're now getting ready to go for dinner where we will both probably fall asleep in our pudding and be wheelbarrowed out onto the ...

... country has to offer! Despite the disappointing end to such a spectacular trip, as we packed up our clothes we were excited about our first leg of our USA tour: Las Vegas!

NOTE: after some digging around it seems that other holiday makers and travellers have been scammed by Yellow Transfers too in various ways from stealing money from people to not even turning up to pick up a prearranged transfer, so anyone going to Cancun airport would do well to avoid them ...

82 degrees, 72% humidity, no snow, sleet or rain. Our first Christmas in our new home of Playa del Carmen, and since we are still unpacking those 6 suitcases we arrived with 2 1/2 weeks ago, no time to get a Christmas tree or decorate (all Christmas decorations and 12 more boxes were supposed to arrive via UPS this week, but they are Lost, as in Lost in Translation, The Lost Ark, just darned ...

    Destination Day

... But this was surprisingly fun, simply because everyone took it seriously.

Who won? My team, of course!

Later, we swam with dolphins for the second time in a week, but this time with snorkels. The dolphins were calmly swimming around among us as we were floating around. A much more real, intimate experience. They really got up in your face, and were not scared to be patted. I even got a big, accidental slap on my leg by a one of them. They're very strong!
