Santa Teresa, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica, 506-640-0476
... It was an awesome place to stay on low season. I can only imagine how crazy it must be during high season. I bet that place can handle 100 people if not more.
So, while we were there we did our damnedest to improve our tans. After all the weeks in the mountains, we needed some vitamin D. Getting tan during the rainy season is a tall order and we got an A for effort, but walked away with only mild tan lines that are fast fading ...
... eletronica music at casa zen. alberto is the young kid who is the "night guard" here at Pacifica Studios; he likes reggae music, enjoys the free beer we provide him with, and sings lovely songs in spanish. maureen is managing casa cecelia and is a masseuse; she's like Phoebe from Friends because she's got that fluu-py way about her. chay-lee (spelling unknown) runs the bar and restaurant at the funky monkey hostel, has the best casada ...
Santa Teresa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica gocarygo... for number of days in a row eating pizza--9!) and wait for Mom and Dad to get back from their morning tour. Once we met up with them at the end of the pier, we walked along the strip of vendors by the beach for a little bit, and then Allen got directions to the town center. Our goals were a supermercado and replacement flip-flops for Max, who misplaced his old ones on the ship a few days ago. We scored on both counts. As usual ...

Santa Teresa, Costa Rica emiliea... trees and playing soccer they made us a snack of fresh pinapple, oranges, bananas and my favorite, Coke. We layed around some more and then our guides made us lunch. After lunch we did some more laying around and swimming. Jeff and I took turns snorkeling while our guides took a nap on some picnic tables. At about 3 in the afternoon they woke up and we headed back. We ended up staying an extra night because we weren't done being lazy.
Puntarenas, Costa Rica limehybrid... salads for lunch. My rice consumption has drastically dropped from heaping platefuls to only a few spoonfuls. I've started walking up the mountain in the mornings before the rains begin. And, I've started doing dance aerobics. Yes, that's right, dance aerobics. Tico style. Which is way more fun, and probably way weirder than dance aerobics in the States. At least I assume so, never having actually done dance aerobics before. But there's a first for everything, right? So ...
La Estrella, Costa Rica bootsmade4wlkin... but what I would call mini-lakes, I think I need to get some boots. The Ticas think that I´ve suddenly gone soft in the head. It all started after I wrote my last entry and just got so sick of mudsplattered pants. My kids have been wearing these big black rainboots all year, and they seem so practical and not that ugly at all. So I casually mentioned to my family that I was going to buy myself a pair of these boots when I next went to Cartago. They laughed ...
La Estrella, Costa Rica bootsmade4wlkin... fourth graders walked in. Why is it that my fourth grade class always ends up discussing my personal life more than their new English vocab? A dog! Can I hold it? Whose is it? Um, I guess mine. What´s its name? Ummmmm. Then Kervin, upon closer examination, squinched up his face in disgust as he noted the gum stuck to the dog's butt. I guess she had sat on it somewhere. Chiclet! Her name is Chiclet! Now get me some scissors so that I can cut this out ...

But when I came into school the first day with my new due, there was a collective gasp. I almost stopped the national anthem mid-note. All that day I got the, "Teacher, you cut your hair." Nothing else. They were too in shock that someone under the age of 40 had cut her hair so short. As in the States, it seems that all the women over ...
La Estrella, Costa Rica bootsmade4wlkin... The last few days despite being sunny here, have been a bit cloudy in our minds. She was a dear friend and we will miss her terribly. Right now our thoughts are directed to her boyfriend and her family. Kai and I caught the early bus out of Playa Brasilitto bound for Santa Cruz on Sunday morning. We had heard that there was a rodeo going on there and a big party. We arrived to a frenzy of people out on the streets having the best time. The place was ...
