Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica pamericas... a tree trunk bridge & going through the bamboo forest, but turned back just before the fright fork that would have got me to other swimming holes.
Finally back on route, found the falls but the river was so swollen after recent rains I was dubious about going into the main flow & getting washed down to the lower pool from which there was no way out except down. Went in at the smaller side falls which were more sedate.
... After our sun baking, we talked to some people at our hostel about doing a fish taco night, they were down so we offered to go buy the fish. Well, we set out thinking it would take us 30 minutes to walk to the fishing village...and we were dead wrong. After walking a good 45-50 minutes we had the genious idea to ask someone directions. So Farrah asked in Spanish and I translated his answer: ¨really f**king far that way¨ Okay, maybe he didn´t drop the f-bomb, but ...
Santa Teresa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica jeridolp... the Moutain of Death.
The Moutain of Death is a mountain range on the InterAmerican Highway that got that name long before cars were around when people used to cross this moutain range by foot, horse, or donkey. Many people died back then and this moutain was almost the dealth of poor Wesley as well! We barely made it over the pass as Wesley was sputtering, blowing smoke, and wouldn´t go over 40 kms. We even pulled over and Devin replaced the fuel filter as ...
... place of Costa Rica. Christ has me in the cradle of his arms rocking me back and forth and I am not going anywhere but in his comfort.
This morning has been such an astonishing gift from God. First of all that I feel 10x better than what I had been feeling the days before, and second, that he had brought this song to my ears so that I can remember that everything is on his time, Spanish-speaking/getting well again/sunsets ...
Just a quick blog to keep you up to date

All but one person is great. One guys is just a bit strange and quiet. The actuall physical place and teh structure is just so freakin awesome. I have new design ideas for this ...
Uvita, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica carrera2u... then." My confidence had been so high that I could only smile and giggle at the off-colour joke. But as I stared into his Medusa-like eyes I suddenly remembered that customs officers are completely void of humour. It is in fact the entire basis of the job interview. The candidate walks in, the interviewer tells him jokes, and if any white enamel of tooth should appear the candidate is immediately dismissed. This realization was like the pin to my confidence ...
San Isidro de General, Costa Rica dununzio... a huge potluck dinner for Christmas and invited not only the hotel guests but also Ticos from Uvita and the nearby town of Bahia. It was fabulous! There´s no replacement for spending Christmas with all of your loved ones, but this was the best substitute we could have asked for. It is with still-full stomachs that we roll ourselves out of bed to catch the 6 am bus to San Isidro. Goodbye, wee Uvita! Goodbye, small animals still hurting from Anikah´s exuberant love!
