I was able to catch up with Doc and Chaco (2 SOBO's from the AT 2013) a few miles in and to see them lifted my spirits. I don't want to admit it, but I do miss my family and friends. it just takes awhile to get used to the idea of a week camping, 20 mile days, and packing/unpacking everyday. ... then climbed up again to about 4000ft through the most amazing rocky outcrop that I have seen the mountains were just like huge piles of big rocks.
We arrived at the hotel and settled in, the hotel is an old bank which has been converted to the hotel after a bit more shopping in the handy Westfield's shopping mall ( I can't believe how much we get ripped off in Australia for clothes ...

... to our little beach at Mission Bay! The parking at the beach was literally just at the top of the beach so was very sandy but as long as you kept to the compacted stuff the car could cope, however even though both Shirley and I said watch the deep sand, Lauren managed to drive straight into a hole and we were stuck!! Fortunately with a bit of brute force we pushed the car to safety and spent the next half an hour laughing and ...
