Day 10: Florence
... of Michelangelo, Galileo, Niccolo Medicci and Dante, as well as works by Donatello. On our way there, we walked through a little alleyway where school children were being let out for the day and families were there picking them up (no one was in a car; everyone walked or rode bikes). It was a very cute, Italian, everyday scene, and we enjoyed watching it unfold. All the parents picking up their kids had some kind of snack for them -- that must be some kind of tradition or regular ...
Venice & Florence
We arrived in Venice Sunday afternoon around 5 pm and after checking into the hotel, our tour guide gave us an orientation walking tour of the city showing us how to get to the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. After that we all took a gondola ride wandering through the smaller canals until all five boats got close together in the grand canal. One of the boats had a musician and an Italian tenor who serenaded us when we grouped together ...
The City of Lilies

Lucas also got me a leather satchel for 20 euros and we wanted to get leather gloves with cashmere inside but decided against it because they were 45 euros. That night we went out to dinner at the famous Acqua ...

Liz and I left the youngsters to it, and circled the Duomo, before all of us made our way back to the station - it was now close to 7pm and time to head home. Olivia ...
ROMEing Around (Clever...I know)
... ended at a restaurant where we had a really nice 3-course meal courtesy of our study abroad program (ISA) The first course was different meats, veggies and foccia. Then we had a really good pasta dish and an amazing dessert that was similar to tiramisu, but not exactly the same. It reminded me of pudding…so good! The place we had dinner was about 30-40 mins from our hotel, so it was quite an adventure trying to navigate our way back. We decided to bar hop on ...
