... struck twelve, we were passed free champagne and everyone went wild, throwing streamers and using noisemakers. Fireworks went off in the middle of the streets as people celebrated, and we had a perfect view of the main street from our second-floor bar window seats. ... up. It worked like a charm. Our tenants are great, and happily engaged in a scavenger hunt for my things. When my dad stopped by to pick up the gear bag, they all had tea and zucchini bread together. I couldn’t have been happier.

But … and it was a big “but” … that only got my stuff as far as Minnesota, which meant that I could have my parents bring it down to Oaxaca when they visited ...

... to migrate the 6,000 miles from the Bering Strait to the Baja waters and the Sea of Cortez (which our balcony is on), to escape the cold waters and to birth their young. They range in length from 40 to 50 feet and can weigh up to 73,000 pounds! I copied the picture below from the internet.

... the shop owners made a police report and watched video surv cameras for hours, but nothing now it's just us with nothing but the clothes on our back and our fanny packs.

(by the way included in our fanny packs were passports )

ps. when youve got nada you got nada to lose.
and we're finally FREE!

however, we are still slightly afraid of freezing and starving to death.
