Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

I think it may have failed quite miserably, it kind of kept falling over, but we did have cardboard to sleep on which was somewhat comfortable! We had a lot of fun in the Como area. We hiked a few mountains. We completed another dare of busking. We weren't quite sure how we would do it, but found a bucket ...

... out the barrel' (an old favorite for Gina and me), to an enthusiastic bus load of Eastern European tourists. Not very Italy like, we kept walking. We remembered there was live music at the Grand Hotel Serbelloni - a little 3 piece orchestra (piano, violin, cello) - yes, they were still there! We ordered a little nightcap and watched few songs before they went on break. Amy said everyone else in the room (70+) looked positively bored, she looked over at me and said I had the ...

... just starting to get used to the novelty of continuous tunnels when Travis unfortunately misheard the Sat Nav lady and took a slight wrong turn. This one little mistake saw us front straight up to another toll booth and a fee of €4.40 to pass through only to have the Sat Nav tell us to do a U turn and head back in the opposite direction hence, another €4.40 was paid to go straight back through the ...
