Oh Venice, where do I start? This place was amazing and a whole lot better than I ever expected. We flew into Venice from Geneva which was only a 1 hour flight. As we started to descend into Venice to land, the captain started ascending again which was really weird! There was then an announcement that the 'perimeters were incorrect' so we had to do a whole loop of Venice which delayed our flight by 10 minutes. We landed safely and then caught the public ...

It’s Monday night and we can say that after being in Venice for about 5 hours we have already felt much more settled than when we arrived. There are just so many interesting shops with beautiful wares and lovely areas to sit and wander about, and places to eat gelati and drink coffee.

Since it was cold and miserable, we simply spent the day exploring markets, alleyways and bridges, and ducking into Renaissance churches if it became too miserable. In this way we managed to catch a few Titians and Tintoretto without paying a cent. Our sit down dinner had been relatively expensive the night before, despite it begin a Tourist menu. So last night we tried to do the bar thing, with stand up Tapas. We only managed to ...

... languages. The trip took 2 hours and went by very quickly. The scenery was not great, unfortunately. During the first part it was in and out of tunnel after tunnel (ears popping) so I didn't get to see the mountains that I remember from the tour bus. The second part was through fields and, when we went through small towns, the backside of buildings. It’s hard to take clear pictures from a moving vehicle—ha!

So sometime during that long wait at ...
