... leaving Lucen the main road is closed for a new bridge to be fitted and so a rather muddy make shift road was built. Last night this was just mud and was extremely slippery, today however it has all frozen up and is just solid mud so was easy enough to ride along.

After breakfast we bid good bye to our friends and vowed to plan another excursion together.
David and I took a commuter train to Florence where we caught the fast train to Venice.
Stepping off the train we could immediately see the charming city and it's waterways.
Venice is a large city full of narrow lanes/ pathways (some only three feet wide) with buildings extending up three to for stories.

Early start and bags packed ready for a a midday trip to the cruise terminal . Had a few hours to kill so walked to the Academia area of Venice- beautiful area to walk and and again plenty of photo opportunities. The major tourist attractions had huge crowds lined up so a few church visits was all we visited this morning.
