Finally, after probably another half an hour of walking, we found a souvenir stand on the street where tall, black rain boots were sold. Lauren and I each bought a pair, and the guys operating the stand were nice enough to help us try them on, a surprisingly difficult task--our wet feet didn't go into the rubber boots well. If my hair wasn't so gross and the guys weren't so creepy, it would have been a bit like a Cinderella moment.
