Playa La Madera Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Pacific Coast, Mexico
... through our room and the next morning I found a brown scorpion in our bath room. A first for me! Now a little gecko is watching me typing, but those are cute!
We have yet to visit our family friends in Buena Vista, to sell the truck, to plan our trips and to do more of surfing. I promise next time I provide some pictures, the new season of blogging has officially started. Don’t forget to keep me in the loop of what you guys are doing! I miss home, I do, and the food…
Its been about three weeks since Tracy and I got to Zihuatanejo (see wah tah
NAY ho), which is in the Mexican state of Guerrero. We picked this town solely based on what we saw online as far as: population (not too big or too small), access to many different beaches, and the potential for lots of restaurants to choose from.
Zihuatanejo, or "Zihua" as the locals call it, is a fairly new city. There are no giant cathedrals or colonial buildings like you would find in Mexico ...
This past weekend I went to Ixtapa, which is a beach city about 6 hours from where I'm living! I was invited by a woman named Daphne from the church here, and so we went with her mom, sister, daughter, and nephew. It was a lot of fun, very hot, and and sometimes very difficult with the language barrier.
Daphne and her mother are new Christians. Apparently Daphne came to the women's group at the church about 4 months ...
Ixtapa surprised both Christina and I as the area was like one big Resort. Much different then the rest of Mexico, the gardens were manicured, no garbage, and decent roads. This was one of the first RV Parks we found that was in good shape offering all the amenities at a reasonable price, 140 pesos (US$10.37). We checked out the town and market, they were really set up for the American tourist. I would have to say it ...
Ixtapa, Guerrero, Mexico cmedancing... had a kick ass arcade for the kids. Go figure. Helen and I had a great dinner way a top the bay one night and dinner in the downtown area another night. We had this great bay access path below our hotel that gave us a thirty minute walk to town and made a great jogging path in the morning. I even gave the surf a try right in front of our hotel in the bay but was way to close to the rocks for me. This little local nut on a surf board would ride waves right into the rocks.

... have her here. She came with the right attitude, completely open-minded and with the spirit of relaxing as much as possible. We welcomed here in our little home where she felt very comfortable right away. To get her adjusted to what we do here all the time, we went for a walk through the city centre and took her to Playa Principal so she could see where we won't go swimming! Even though with this rather "ugly" beach, Anita was amazed just being close to the water ...

If you're not on a budget and would like a bit of luxury then stay in the neighbouring resort area of Ixtapa. Here the high-rise hotels dominate the beach front and offer all the amenities that you would expect from top end hotels. A quick Google search will list many of these hotels.

Zihuatanejo, Mexico violette-mauve... more about cars than they think I do, and can tell me that I should try to replace the part that tore off for some reason or another, please respond and tell me). We drove on to Zihuatenejo and have been enjoying ourselves (for the most part) in cleanliness since. Raederle is telling me it is time to wrap it up, so I will skip the part about the hot dog pizza. We hope everybody is doing well in the states, and we can´t wait to see some of you during Christmas! Rick and Raederle, and Sucia.
