In retrospect, as self appointed 'route planner in chief' I might have asked a bit much of Stuart today. Having flown in yesterday he had disappeared off to the local Harley shop to buy some new waterproof boots (apparently the ordinary Harley boots fail in this rather fundamental area). And then we were up bright and early this morning to pick up the rental bike (yet to be named – it is sparkly and navy blue – however there’s no rush because we ...

By noon, we had gassed up 3 times, been through a rain shower, travelled 307 kms (probably 100 of them in construction zones) and had just finished lunch at Burger King. We all ordered their chicken salad with different kinds of cheeses and kept the young lady in the back ...

We began the morning lookig out the tent entrance to the misty-fog that is West Virginia. The Allegheny Highlands Trail awaited us. Even better, a coasting downhill section awaited us.
We'd spent a warm night even though the tent is soaking wet. We even got a paved section around Parsons. First land battle of the Civil War was ...

... and Scott a photo of an old building and who should ride up but Bret Lang, the "1983 biker guy." He had to show us his bike, the 10 speed he crossed America in. He rode with us for a few miles, and talked of the goodness of people across America, he said he hoped he represented West Virginia well for us. He did. He tried to get us to come back and eat and stay the night, we just needed more miles. We are on the Allegheny rail trail camping on the ...
