... we went for a run to work it back off!

A few days in the green landscape of Bellingen was enough to recharge, and we next hopped on an evening bus to Byron Bay, home of surfing and partying: the three main streets smell like booze first thing in the morning. Not exactly our cup of tea, but an enjoyable place just the same, if you stay away from the bars. We spent most of our time walking, heading ...

Despite a few clouds in the sky, it was a gorgeous view - watching the sunrise at the most eastern point of Australia. We got picked up fairly quickly by two Canadian backpacker girls, who dropped us ...

I took a train from Taree to Byron Bay, my last destination in New South Wales. The scenery was interesting on the road, with a lot of wildlife jumping around (kangaroos). I arrived at 9.00 pm in Byron Bay, a relaxed beachy town. While I was walking to the hostel, I had a nice chat with a young Australian grandma, who taught me a nice Australian song for Australia Day. The lyrics basically say the British were dumb ...

... of these amazing animals in the wild, watching until the pod had split into two and moved on. On our way down towards the beach, Ben (Holland) spotted a Brush Turkey rummaging in the undergrowth and Sam drew our attention to a Wallaby, a few feet into the bush, quite unfazed by its audience. A woman walking by came up to find out what it was that we were all gazing at. She was underwhelmed when she found out that it was only a Wallaby. Also visible from the cliffs were a few ...
