Apartment by Castle Edinburgh

Having read the previous tripadvisor reviews and the seen the internet photographs on their website ----. I knew that this accommodation would be good but it was even better than I expected. The rooms are well laid out and the whole place was very relaxing, with all the comforts of home. The location in the city centre, immediately next to Edinburgh Castle is outstanding. As there were numerous places to see only a short walk away, it meant that we could come and go as we pleased. The views of the Castle from our windows were spectacular and at night when the castle is floodlit it was awesome. From the very first contact I had with the owner - Moira Bowman I was impressed. She has given us personal attention throughout, from my initial enquiry until well after we all left. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if anyone reading this is contemplating a stay at anytime of year at the Apartment By Castle I would say that it would be well worth it. I know that when next in Edinburgh I would want to stay there.

We were at the Apartment for the second time - mid December - and again it was a great experience. Edinburgh is such a lovely place to be, especially around Christmas time. We had to come back as we have not seen all we wanted to see the first time. Now we still have not seen everything, so I guess we will go back for the third time next year. For sure we will be staying at the same Apartment, which is so beautifully located near the Castle. The view is breathtaking. The Apartment is very luxurious, the beds are very comfortable and on arrival you are welcomed with a small basket containing bread, tea, etc. Eric and Moira are terrific hosts. Highly recommended!!!!

I have stayed at this apartment twice and am going for my third stay next June! I absolutely love to stay there. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It has all the modern conviences and is totally equiped with all the items,one needs for a well appointed home!

It is really centrally located, so you can walk easily, to almost all of the favorite tourist spots. There are multiple pamphlets, on sites to see in,and around Edinburgh,in the apt. As well as, schedules for the buses and train. The buses are very easy to catch, are on time and very reasonably priced.

Moira Bowman is a delightful lady...she is so very helpful, with directions, locations of good resteraunts, etc. If she doesn't know, she'll help you find the information you need. I very much enjoy staying "at her place".

While looking for lodging in Edinburgh, we found this lovely apartment on the internet. It is located right at the base of the Castle, and is close to everything. No car needed! The hostest, Mrs. Bowman, is wonderful, and truly treats guests as family members visiting on holiday. We will always have fond memories of our visit to Scotland, enhanced by our stay at this apartment.

PS: When you look at the photos on Mrs. Bowman's web site and notice that the castle is in every shot, please note that this is really true. She was wonderful in helping us plan our visit, where to go, what to see. We had planned on seeing the Tattoo, which we did, but considering the proximity of the apartment to the castle, we also heard and enjoyed it every evening.

Schotland was a whole new experience for us. The first thing we noticed when we entered our lovely appartment was the cosy Scottish atmosphere and the splendid vieuw of the Castle. The apartment was comfortable, very well equipped and the location was perfect, in the middle of the citycenter with most of the highlights and restaurants from a walking distance.

Moira and her husband are excellent hosts and they did everything to make our stay in Edingburgh a very lovely one and we will always remember the vieuw of the Castle by night.

When you book an apartment which you have not seen before and only read about it in a brochure or on a website, you may encounter some risks. Now this is what we found: a very warm welcome, a spacious apartment extremely well furnished in a very homely British style, comfort (exactly what we Germans mean when we say "gemütlich", this untranslatable word meaning something like comfortluxuryhomearmchairdogatmyfeetXXL), castle at view from the window - all in all: excellent value for money. We immediately felt completely at home. And now we know an excellent address where to stay, should we ever come to Edinburgh again (which is quite likely...).

This was our last stop on our 2-week visit to Scotland, and was the perfect way to end our vacation. Incredible location suited to sightseeing, shopping, restaurants and pubs.....spacious rooms including 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bath; luxurious linens, and spotless housekeeping, as well as inclusion of every ammenity required. And, the cost was the same as lodging in the nearby Apex for a small, standard room. Thank you Moira for a lovely stay!

Knowing Edinburgh fairly well I knew that the location would be excellent, which it was. However, what I had not expected was the first rate standard of service, right from the welcome and the much appreciated basket of "goodies, right through to the prompt return of some items which we left behind. We look forward greatly to our next visit.

We have returned to enjoy this apartment again & again - always receiving a standard of facilities and service that you aspire to on your travels. The experience - from initial enquiry through to reluctant handing back of keys - could not be bettered.

The apartment's prime location - adjacent to Edinburgh Castle, the Grassmarket & Royal Mile - is the icing on the cake.

"There is No Place Like Home for the Holidays!" .... and this ideal hotel "Apartment by Castle, Edinburgh" definitely has this in mind!This was our first time in Scotland and we couldn't have chosen a better venue. It was a long planned Xmas holiday (our first Xmas away from home) and when we entered the apartment and saw it and the 'extras' that were added to ensure our stay was a 'joyful' one (Xmas decorations, candles, wine, a welcoming basket of Scottish goodies!) we knew we had lucked in.The apartment nestles directly beside Edingburgh Castle and the view from both bedrooms and living room leaves you breathless. It is an ideal location to reach any point of interest in Edinburgh. We found few in our touring that came close to filling all the needs of a visitor to Scotland.There is nothing to want for in this apartment. Every need is met and even items one would have never have thought of were on board. It is large, luxurious, with every home comfort and maintains an ambiance of the Victorian era with all of today's modern conveniences - right down to the laundry facilities. Games, books, travel brochures, cultural event pamphlets, ALL were there at hand. We need do nothing but sit back, relax with a glass of the welcome wine and make our ultimate decisions as to our sightseeing plans. After 36years of travelling, this had to be at the top of our list as a recommended place to stay!We came away from our holiday with all GOOD memories thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Bowman who extended a hand of friendship and assistance (at any given time) that definitely completed this holiday season for us as a family.We wish the Bowman's WELL in their venture and THANK them for their kindness, thoughfulness and hospitality.
