... had finished, we finally went on to our journey. We meandered through the darkness for another 7 hours, changing buses twice and at one point boarding a ferry only to go halfway across the Mekong river, then go back to the exact same place and drive away. I'm still bemused by why that happened. Through it all, we dealt with being insulted, climbed on and shouted at (by the driver, who didn't let his limited grasp of English stop him shouting "GO!" whenever we moved at all). ...
