We flew from Cambodia to Phuket in Thailand and arrived in late at night. We were really excited about heading back to Thailand and in particular to the Islands after falling in love with them last year.

We were slightly apprehensive as we kept hearing about all the troubles going on in the Country and there was a 10pm Military …

... centre we decided to go for a drive around the north east corner of Phuket. As it turned out this was the one part of the island we didn't drive around the last time we were here. It was very remote. It felt far more undeveloped than anywhere else I'd been here. The roads were very narrow at time with the rain forest often growing onto the road. Arrived in Phuket about 7pm and had my first airport pick up with my name being held up Alison Lippin, nearly right but it was class!! Didn't venture out that night but went for breakfast at the beach, eventually found somewhere open even though it was 9am, they definitely party hard here and ...

... and Eskimo pence). But the cheapest I could find the night I arrived was 650 Baht. They filled up the much cheaper minibus just before I got to the counter, so a taxi was the only option. It's a shame to be back in the realms of being ripped off by taxi drivers, but sometimes there's no other way.

Glancing at Google Maps I couldn't figure out if Phuket Town actually has it's own beach or not. It doesn't, but I did find a piece of wooded parkland that juts out ...

... br> Our adventure started last Wednesday, 21 November. We arrived at Phuket Airport a little late, but everything went smoothly and we cleared customs without delay. Outside the airport, we caught a taxi with a pre-set price of 750 Baht. That's one thing I really like in Thailand, the taxi charges seem to be fixed - there's no such thing as meterage.

However, this rule does not seem to apply to Tuk Tuks and the printed information tells you that Tuk Tuk drivers ...
