    ... just horrible. Kirsty and I both remained surprisingly calm, I think because we didn't know if the boat was damaged below and if we were in any further trouble, but i'll confess my legs did turn to jelly. Someone started passing out life jackets (thank god it was only a small boat) and we sat trying to make jokes until they said the boat was 'Ok'.     ... beach in terms of gentle slope, quiet waves, an excellent sandy drop offs...the water temperature is between 25-28 degrees and crystal clear...a refreshing escape from the relentless sun overhead but no problem easing into it. The water is quite salty so it's easy to just float on the surface. Most times there is also a nice breeze that feels great.

    6. Dont forget the horrendous.... and we do mean horrendous food poisoning........ all we will say is be careful what meat you pick.... be very careful!

    All in all Patong is not that awful, there were loads of familys there but was just not backpacker-ry enough for us and defo did not have a laid back vibe.

    ... really neat but such a tourist trap. The only way to see the island is to stop on an adjacent island where there is a very narrow path and a small souvenir village. Every tour boat would stop here, including hundreds of Chinese tourists wearing the same clothes, and take silly pictures in front of the famous island. A cool island but not worth the crowds.
