... meet our Canadian friends down at the ‘clam factory’ otherwise known as the marine research facility. They are trying to restock the lagoon with giant clams which are in a perilous state of decline. By the numbers of huge shells which seem to adorn every step, driveway and front garden in Aitutaki, I’m not surprised.

We leave the clam factory just in time for more driving rain. It’s blowing and really pouring ...

Today we are out on a boat trip to explore the lagoon of Aitutaki and it's many little islands. It's a beauty, hot and sunny, the seas are clear blue, the sands golden, life is good.

The boys are kite surfing, whilst we are snorkelling, swimming, island hopping, being stranded on sand bars ...
