arrgh !! I have just looked up Waipu Cove on the web - to find that there is a network of caves with stalagmites and glow-worms there !! I really must re-explore NZ geography and not rely on visitors from overseas to tell me about things in my own country *blush* !!

- I found info that would make Martijn and Trude roar with laughter - they have been grumbling about published lengths of walks in NZ - this one takes the cake for being vague :D
"Easy to moderate walking from a few minutes to a day". Now how is that for helpful ?? !!

Heheheheh, that IS helpful...

So basically if you were to go walking there you might be done in 10 minutes or you need overnight gear... To pack or not to pack, that is the question ;)
