01 Tibetan Flag

01 Tibetan Flag, Ganden, China

This flag is illegal in China. In the centre of the flag is a snow mountain, representing Tibet as the "land of the snows." The six red and blue bands in the sky represents the six clans of Tibet born from the monkey and ogress. The sun symbolizes the freedom and happiness of all beings in Tibet. The snow lions are fearless and represent the unification of spiritual and secular life. Between the lions is a red and blue yin-yang symbol as also seen on the South Korean flag. The jewel above them represents the Three Supreme Jewels--Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.
