17 - River Ford

17 - River Ford, Bissau, Guinea-Bissau

Before arriving at the border we came across this little river which we had ford. We got out of the car to make it lighter and went on foot. We crossed many little rivers in which women were often either bathing children or washing clothes. However ever since arriving in Gunea we have noticed that women here are not at all prudish about their bodies and will happily walk into town topless. If they are wearing a t-shirt will pull up the bottom half and wipe their face with it revealing all.

Jean - West African women seem to be more modest about their legs than their breasts. Unless they are washing laundry etc they wear long skirts that keep themselves covered. Contrast that to Western tourists in bikinis. Not surprising to me that African men seem rude and sexually pushy to white women sometimes.
