This presidential palace came under attack from rebels led by a dismissed army chief in 1999. They also decided to burn down the French embassy and the cultural center, which I saw was rebuilt. The roof of this build had received a few bombs, the interior was burnt out and on the façade there are mortar and bullet holes everywhere.
