There exist still plenty of ruins of ancient buildings that are generally too bad to repair. A building here can easily be destroyed because they aren't designed to handle large amounts of rain as the roofs are often made out of layers of palm leaves and mud. When it does occasionally rain very heavily, then the roof washes away and nothing holds up the walls correctly. Now kids just play in the ruins which is rather dangerous for them if a wall came crashing down.
