Pulau Pangkor-east
Lumut's only real draw for non-ascetics is as a jumping-off point for Pulau Pangkor, apparently one of Malaysia's finest beach destinations. The 8 sq km island is strictly divided between east and west, with the east coast a residential area built around the fishing industry and the west coast strictly tourism. A sizable, undeveloped jungle covers most of the island's interior. The ferry from Lumut drops you off around here, on the east side, then you're meant to catch a taxi over to the west. There's a sizable group of men hanging about who seem to make their living just shuttling tourists back and forth across the island.
