An essential stop on any trip to the Delta, we visited the floating market near Can Tho early on the second day of our tour. Basically, there is a hierarchy of boats, where the bigger boats are like the equivalent of a floating Sam's Club, and they offer a range of fruits and veggies at wholesale rates. As you can see in this picture, they advertise their wares via a tall pole that has sample products hanging from it.
The retailers cruise around in medium-sized boats, navigating all the traffic to find the best deals, which they then buy in bulk, load onto their boats, and carry away to parts unknown. Then there are tourists like us, who just rock up into the middle of everything, buy sodas and fresh fruit from the mini-mart boats, and take lots of pictures.
