02. Bujumbura International Airport
Bujumbura was an unexpected stop as we thought we were flying direct from Nairobi to Kigali. Our flight here took about an hour. The layover took as long as the flight to Kigali - about 30 minutes - but we weren't getting off the plane. The heck you say. As others took smoke breaks outside waiting for departure, I walked down the stairs onto the tarmac. Burundi! Check! Another country on which I have set foot. Security here is not as tight as I am accustomed, but who even knows where Bujumbura is?
