Independance Memorial
Here I am in front of the Independance memorial in downtown Quito... Right in front of the federal parlement buildings. The condor above me is the national animal of Ecuador and the lion below is the national animal of Spain. The memorial represents Quito's conquest over their Spanish colonial rulers... A process that starded in 1809 as part of Bolivar's united South American project.
