01 - The Girls
Stepanakert is the capital of Nagorno Karabagh, an unofficial country comprising of an area of Azerbaijan occupied by the Armenians after a bitter war during the 90s.
The area had long been an Armenian enclave with a large Azeri population. It was handed to Azerbaijan on the break up of the Soviet Union based on gerrymandering done back in Stalin's era.
On arrival I was lucky enough to meet a group of university students learning english.
