02 Piazza della Signoria

This is Piazza della Signoria, Florence's main civic square and the location for some fancy looking buildings, including the Town Hall (seen to the right). It's a nice place to hang out and it has some reasonably priced cafés and restaurants, considering their location right on the square. The main reason we liked this area however was because it houses an array of Renaissance statues, both dotted around the square itself or in the adjacent Loggia della Signoria, a loggia being a roofed gallery or balcony (see next picture).
