As you already know we had to hang around Hohhot for the best part of two days. We arrived at 7am on Sunday morning and our train was leaving at 10:30pm Monday night. Apart from the time we spent on the streets just after arriving from Beijing and the time we spent viewing the madness of the New Year ending celebrations, we spent most of our time in our hotel room. It's not all that sad. It was a good opportunity for me to get my website updated. I'm not quite sure what Henk does be up to? I'm actually typing this text in the hotel room a few seconds after taking this photo (whoops Henk, you forgot to hide your beer bottle from the night before). Right now it's 10:53 on Monday morning. I'm hoping to upload this entry and the entries from Weihai and Beijing when we get to Ulaan Baatar early Wednesday morning. The hotel itself is cheap, not very cheerful and a bit rough around the edges. Actually, it's very rough around the edges. As we'll be in the city until late tonight we're hoping to be able to extend our checkout until this evening to save us having to wait around on the streets. We still have the adventure of trying to explain what we want to the reception desk. That should be fun. But a few gestures at a clock, production of our train ticket and the waving of a few Chinese Yuan notes should get the point across. Room 408, Guohua Hotel, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, North eastern China. February 13th 2006
