Flag Dance, Tomogaoka, Japan

This was the girls' mass game. Not to be confused with MATH game which is how all the teachers were pronouncing it. I think 'mass game' just means everyone is involved. A handful of third graders prepared an extensive dance involving flags over the summer holiday and then spent the first three weeks of school training the younger students to do the dance in unison. Watching the dance 2 days before SPORTS DAY I never thought they'd pull it off. But in those last two days the girls came to school super early, stayed late, practiced during every period, skipped cleaning time, and some even skipped lunch- so that they could succeed in pulling this together.
