Rising up out of the Thar Desert is this distinctive fortress of sandstone which dominates the flat skyline for miles around. Jaisalmer Fort is of course from another age but the life of the times seem to have been preserved along with it. A bustling market is held within the city walls selling spices that scent the air and sometimes sting the nose. You can get delicious saffron lassis here too!
