Buena Vista Park in Haight Ashbury is set on a steep hilltop and used to be treeless, but a Victorian park keeper insisted on planting thousands of them. Now there are some lovely mature and unusual specimens, but they block the bloody view - which would otherwise be 360 degrees across the city! I only found this rare opening in the canopy because a local saw my predicament and directed me to the tennis courts, above which this view of downtown opens up.
