Fig tree - Cape Tribulation to Townsville, Australia

Fig tree, Cape Tribulation to Townsville, Australia
One of the massive fig trees on the Atherton Tablelands, in the rain. This one is called the 'curtain fig tree' and 600 years old. Fig trees start life by growing up another tree. Eventually the host tree will be strangled and die, but by then the fig will have got its roots established and will carry on alone.
