All over the Yucatan Peninsula - Mayan festivals, hurricane evacuations, and lots of salsa. My first international expedition.
About this blog
During the summer of 2005, my best friend and I took a month-long trip to the Yucatan Peninsula. We spent a couple of weeks living in a rental house in Tulum and seeing the sights, then had to evacuate because of Hurricane Emily. We ended up in Villahermosa, Tabasco (the only bus tickets left), gradually moved back up the west side of the peninsula, and spent the last week living in a tiny fishing village called Chuburna Puerto.
It was my first time out of the U.S. and the start of a yearly (at least) expedition, to the chagrin of my mum.
