Vander Hoek's Great Adventure Down Under

About this blog

Karen and I have a Bucket List. The trips we've done and will do fit into a plan. Our approach to travel planning is to go places where the physical activity like walking, hiking, and kayaking is still something we can do. Later when we can't walk as far or as much, we'll take the tours and cruises maybe.

In 2003 we sold the house and went to Europe for 4 months. We visited 14 countries on 2 continents.

In 2008 we did the Greek Isle cruise, but after it was done we spent 2 weeks travelling Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy (The Dolomites)

Now we are going down under. We'll start in Melbourne, Australia to watch the men's and women's final's of the Australian Open tennis tournament. From there we'll travel the Great Ocean Road and then it's over to Tasmania for 4 days. Then we head to Christchurch, New Zealand and pick up an RV for 3 weeks. We'll end up in Aucklund where we'll fly to Brisbane, Australia. We'll pick up a rental car and drive north to Port Douglas where we'll fly over to Uluru (Ayer's Rock). From there it's off to Sydney for 5 days to finish our next big adventure.
