I'm a 21 year old Southern Californian film student who had never done much of any traveling, let alone overseas, before this summer. Since it was to be the last "summer as kids know summers" of my life before graduation & real life setting in, I decided I had to do something epic and make it count. So, in the middle of class during spring I booked an airline ticket to Kathmandu and set up a 2 month volunteer stint with VSN Nepal. After Nepal I backpacked all around SE Asia, half the time by myself, until finally returning home a (hopefully) changed man.
