Tent of Nations: Building Bridges in Bethlehem

About this blog

I have very much enjoyed studying Arabic over the past year at Edinburgh Uni and have been involved in movements within the university in support of Palestinians in Gaza. I heard about this project in Bethlehem and after looking at the website and getting in touch with the director of the camp, I already feel inspired by its vision of building bridges of reconciliation and understanding and creating peace through diversity. I am going to be volunteering on the farm, mainly during summercamps held for children from around the Bethlehem area. Take a look at the website: www.tentofnations.org

I'd like to dedicate this blog to my Granny - Frances Cameron - who recently died and who has always been hugely encouraging to all her grandchildren's various travels. She was brilliant at sending me letters while I lived in Thailand and in her last days, I promised I would be thinking of her in all of my future trips. So - to you, Granny!

Enjoy.

PS. As a final note, The camps are offered to the children for free and it is difficult for the farm to make profit from its produce. Because of the unique situation of the West Bank, basic necessities like water, electricity, fuel, and food are all very expensive. The project is in great need of help towards basic running costs in order to help keep it sustainable so if you do feel that you'd like to donate any amount towards the project, I would be more than happy to take it out there. (send any donation to me at 17 Kenilworth Road, Bridge of Allan, Stirling and I can transfer it over to give to the project). Shukran.
