I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

About this blog

Despite growing up in Australia with our frequently scorchingly hot Christmas Days - where you feel the hair on your body sear off upon stepping outside the house for more than 2 minutes - there has been that whisper in my subconscious that Christmas is meant to be cold and white. Christmas for me evokes visions of snow draped fir trees, folks buttoned up in their coats and scarfs and gloves drinking mulled wine or rum laced hot chocolate while sitting by an ice skating rink or wandering around festive markets draped with fir boughs and colour and everything twinkling with fairy lights. Perhaps I am but a susceptible sap to the cultural conditioning of decades of Christmas cards showing just such fairy tale scenes, or perhaps I simply read one too many Archie comics as a child! Either way, this year the Australian Christmas "snow" of jacaranda blossoms 'aint going to cut it - so we're off to Europe for a proper white one!

Will be hitting up Christmas Market hot spots Vienna & Prague, followed by Christmas & New Year in Paris. Throwing in a side trip to stay in a castle in the Loire valley in between and a brief stop in Dubai to defrost a little on the way home. Very excited!
