Annapurna Sanctuary Trek - and Kathmandu

About this blog

This was my first visit to Nepal. I had a couple of days in and around Kathmandu, but my main reason for going was to do the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. The Annapurna Sanctuary is an amazing natural amphitheatre - a high-altitude valley - just over 4000m above sea-level, almost completely surrounded by a ring of mountains, most over 7000m and including Annapurna I (10th highest in world at 8091m) and the enigmatic Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail).

I went to Nepal to see the Himalayas - but in the end what impressed me most was the Nepali people. They are just so friendly and full of life.
