Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil
About this blog
The first portion of my trip to Venezuela included a trek across the Gran Sabana to the top of Roraima, where Venezuela, Guyana, and Brazil meet. I visited Pemon villages and journeyed briefly into Pakaraima, a small town in Brazil. If venturing southbound, a Yellow Fever vaccination card is required to enter into Brazil, & be prepared to get a full search exiting the Venezuelan border by automobile (this due to drug and gasoline smuggling).
After the trek, I stayed in Machuto beach, near the Caracas airport. Machuto was the site of the 1999 landslides during which thousands of citizens parished.
The second portion of my stay in Venezuela included a hike to Angel Falls, Canaima Lagoon, Ciudad Bolivar, and a visit in Caracas.
