World History connections to Europe, Summer 2008

My wife, Elaine, and I will be taveling through the Netherlands and Germany on a grant. Then, we'll be relaxing in and around Rome, Italy.

Elaine has received a grant to study: (1)Anne Frank and her family's experience hiding in an Amsterdam attic for over 2 years;(2)the Frank family's horrific experiences after their capture by the Nazis in 1944; (3)the growth of Hitler's power and the Nazi party and, finally, (4)the techniques and effects of Nazi propaganda.

This is also an opportunity for me to gather all sorts of resources and personal experience to share with my four brand new 2008-2009 World History classes!

I'll be reporting on aspects of WWII, the Holocaust, Medieval Europe, Europe's Renaissance, and its Enlightenment.
