About this blog

Well, I'm back on the road again after more than a year and a half of trying to get settled into life in Denver and taking only a few road trips of up to two weeks in the U.S., trips I decided not to write blogs about. The settled life of a standard 9 to 5 job that I thought I'd settle back into remains as unappealing as ever (even if there were jobs out there to be had), so it's time to embark again on something far more exciting. Driving Baja California is an adventure that's been "on my list" for many years. It used to seem like a big adventure but now much less so with the numerous travels I've done over the last decade. Baja was once an ultimate road adventure for Americans, especially Californians, but with the Trans-peninsular Highway completed and paved, the trip is one undertaken every year by thousands of people, including many retirees in RVs. I do hope to get off the beaten path into the remoter parts of the Peninsula away from the main highways. My tentative plan is to leave Denver on April 11. My friend Dave, a driver on one of my long overland Dragoman trips, will join me for the ride to Southern California. After a few days in San Diego I expect to cross the border around April 16th and spend 3 weeks gradually working my way down the peninsula. Several friends are joining me for a week in Cabo San Lucas at a timeshare trade from May 6 to May 13. After that I'll take the ferry across to the mainland, spend some time in the Copper Canyon area in northwest Mexico and return via Chihuahua state in late May. Well, that's the plan....but things can always change as you go along - that's travel!
