Last year I received a text message from International Destinations indicating their choice of the 5 best destinations to retire in Latin America. The Peruvian city of Arequipa was on the list. With my mother-in-Law's upcoming birthday on the horizon, and enough AAdvantage Miles to get me a free ticket to Peru, we decided to evaluate the recommendation.
