So although there once existed an anti- American sentiment here because of the infiltration by the U.S. of contras during the 1979 Nicaraguan revolution, the people have since warmed up to us "gringos." My experience thus far has been a great one! The landscape and topography are stunning while the people are very humble and friendly.

Nicaragua is a place that continues to grow both politically and economically. Though it does not have the wealth of Costa Rica, it is expanding its tourism industry to make it more attractive to outsiders.

I feel that Nicaragua is often misrepresented and misunderstood. Nicaraguans are passionate people make no mistake of that! Unfortunately this has sometimes bled into violence. But I have faith!
