My biggest trip as yet took me round the world in 10.5 months. This is me, over 40,000km and some of my strongest hours later, catching up with my journal entries and a more normal way of life...

I like to call this trip a project and not so much a vacation, because I worked for over six months (got stuck in NZ :). It wasn't a sabbatical, either, since I'd never in my life continuously worked for longer than maybe 10 months at a time.
I got my degree in 2003 and, with a nagging feeling that I might not finish another one in the near future, applied at USC Columbia, SC. My studies there went well, but it soon became obvious that I needed a longer break from academia. I spent four months at home, taught German, and bought a BA discovery fare ticket.
This trip, then, is part of those three years before I turn 30, an advance gift to myself for the big 3-0: a whole three years, imagine that!
There's so much more to say...
