Library Tour of North Island of New Zealand
About this blog
I was lucky enough to be a part of John Stanley Associates first library tour. Fifteen people from four countries toured ten innovative libraries on New Zealand's North Island. John Stanley and his associate, Fiona Emberton, were our leaders. John has been advising libraries all over the world in the application of retail merchandising concepts to library buildings, displays, signage, and marketing. The ten libraries had all been his clients and were chosen to show best practices. On the tour were 12 librarians, one councilor (library board member), her spouse, and me. Twelve were from Australia, two from the UK, and me, from the USA. Two represented academic libraries, I was from the private sector-the rest were from public libraries.
