There are ways to educate people to keep them oppressed (See the work of Paulo Freire), and there are ways that empower them to become active civic agents who can advocate successfully for a better world. This is a story about just one kind of curriculum called "Project Citizen" administered by Civitas Malawi, Africa, that empowers people to become active civic agents and effective democratic citizens. It was an honor to serve Civitas Malawi for 2 1/2 months.
