Heather was born with travel in her blood, although her family never travelled overseas they were regular trippers around South Australia in the family Kombi. Heather's first major jaunt was to Fiji with friends at age 19. She also travelled to Malaysia and Singapore in 1989.
Avan on the other hand really only experienced WA from visiting relies in Albany and a trip to Carnarvon. (Unless you count travelling to Aussie rules games to neighbouring towns). Then in his late 20's Avan took a 18 month working holliday around Oz living life among the last of the hippie era!!
In 1990 Avan overcame a fear of flying to join Dallas, Bill and Heather on a trip to Tiomen Island a part of Malaysia. The love affair with travel had begun.
