I went to Colombia in November of 2005 to learn how to fly paragliders with my good friend Richi Mantilla of Colombia Paragliding. I met Richi while working in Alaska and he enticed me with stories of Colombia's beauty and the opportunity to become a paragliding pilot. My original plan was to spend 2 months with Richi near Bucaramunga, one of the premier flying destinations in South America. Well plans get changed and people fall in love with new cultures. I think I changed my return flight 3 times, missed one of the best ski seasons South West Montana has ever seen, and stayed in Colombia until the final day of my 6 month visa's allowance. Que Bueno.... What ensued was an odyssey of jungle treks, salsa rumbas & mysterious ruins
