This was that second trip to the States I felt I owed (and have earlier promised) my daughter Irina. Marija concurred. It was more than a coast-to coast event. Hawaii, California, Mexico, New York .
About this blog
The station chief of PanAm for the Netherlands must have been aware of the situation of the company, but in retrospect, I guess he figured it out that our three tickets to Honolulu and back were definitely not going to save the great name from bankruptcy. So, being a fine gentleman he was, he treated me and Marija with business and Irina with tourist complimentary or special tourist-industry priced hospitality. We left Amsterdam in deep snow. One does not fly just like that to Hawaii. We did our homework, had a big dinner with the bosses of the US Tourism Authority who stuffed us like wine-leaves with precious info, names and phone numbers of friends and we were all set. Wish that all of you had a trip like this along the same route.
